We measured every suitcase, counted every tie, considered every watch, and solved for every angle. Meeting the expectation of this sweet client was very important to me - not only for our working relationship, but because his upscale wardrobe deserved a luxury space in which to be cared for and displayed proudly.
The trickiest part of the space was a weird corner angle that kinda threw off two walls. With help from my friend Rachelle at California Closets, we came up with a nifty hat/tie/belt storage area that fit in perfectly and utilized the corner without sacrificing space on the two connecting walls.
Collaborating with the husband and wife was my favorite part of this process. We had worked together on other spaces in their home, so we had created a great rapport with one another. They trusted that I had their best interests in mind and would care for the design/space as if it were my own.
It’s not too often when the husband leads a closet organization project. This happy couple has been married long enough to accept and embrace the fact that the husband has a bigger and more treasured wardrobe than the wife. This agreement has led the husband to be gifted the bigger of the two separate primary closets.
Let’s be honest (and he’ll admit it, too), the husband likes the finer things in life. His builder-grade, wire-shelving closet was not meeting his bougie standards. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse :: if he allowed me to re-design the space, his closet would be so divine that he’d be greeted with harps playing every morning he walked into the space.
Offer accepted.
They laughed during one part of the process when Bryan (who prides himself on his sense of style) had chosen a rug for the new closet and had it delivered. When he asked me what I thought about it, I was honest and direct with him that it didn’t work and that I’d find him a new option. Apparently, Bryan isn’t used to having his ideas denied so quickly but absolutely appreciates honesty and transparency. He happily let me choose a rug that he ended up loving, all while his wife sat back and was slightly amused.
Even though angels don’t literally sing every time Bryan enters his closet now (or maybe they do??), he certainly enters with a smile on his face and leaves wearing an easily-assembled polished outfit.

“Lisa took what was a rather standard and doldrum set of walk-in closets and created an amazing, custom-built set of storage areas that accommodate our belongings and aesthetic to a T. We couldn’t be more thrilled.”
