Krissi reached out wanting a room off of her kitchen to become more useful and provide her kids a place to do homework, read, study, and create away from the kitchen table and the family hub. She was tired of having to clean off her table or shoo away her kids just to feel a fleeting moment of calmness.
Having the opportunity to design a room from scratch gets us giddy. Keeping Krissi’s budget in mind with her request of having at least three separate workstations, we came up with a creative solution of utilizing the kitchen cabinet line from IKEA. This was important because their normal office line doesn’t offer full-extension drawers (our nemesis). We were also able to maximize the corner space by placing in a corner cabinet with a turntable - a total game changer for the craft supply storage.
And, yes, desk chairs were eventually added … just not before I took my After pictures. I knew I had to take advantage of the moment since the second the kiddos were released into the room, the crafting chaos would quickly takeover.
I hate to take you there, but let’s go back to 2020. We were wiping off our groceries, learning that Zoom was an online program vs. a quick way to travel, and our homes became classrooms … with us acting as the principal, teacher, social worker, lunch lady, and custodian. Let’s forever cheers ourselves for surviving that mind-boggling time in history.
It was during and immediately after that time when so many of our clients requested home offices, homework areas, and room to separate themselves from their family members (who also became our only co-workers, classmates, social circle, and drinking buddies - juice boxes, of course).
“It looks amazing!! I can’t say enough about every step - from the editing, design, organization, and the functionality of it all, while still being our style. Thank you!.”
